Q: What should I expect if I am new to spinning?
A: One of the great things about indoor cycling is that it can be adapted to any fitness level. With proper coaching, you can gauge the level of the workout to match your own goals and abilities. You’ll be amazed at how quickly your fitness and strength will build. Our teachers will actively coach you through the basics on your first few visits.
Q: Which class should I try first if I’m new?
A: Most classes can be adapted to any fitness level, but certain teachers do run classes that beginners find easier to handle. E-mail us at our contact us section of the website and we will make a specific recommendation.
Q: How do I buy a ride card or make a reservation?
A: You are, of course, welcome to pay by cash or check at the studio --- or feel free to use our convenient Spynergy Online Scheduling System --- an easy way for you to buy ride cards, reserve bikes, check your account, learn about our instructors and more!
Q: When can I reserve or cancel a class?
A: Bikes can be reserved from one hour to one week in advance. Cancellations will be accepted up to 10 hours prior to a class start time, with no penalty.
Q: What do I need to do when I show up at the studio?
A: If you are a walk-in, please sign in on the sign-in sheet. If you have made a reservation online, please initial next to your name on the sign-in sheet so we know you are there.
Q: What is the Walk-In and Bike Release Policy?
A: You can always walk-in without a reservation and if there are unreserved bikes, you can pay for a ride or use a ride card. If you reserve in advance, please be punctual! Empty bikes will be released to walk-ins at the start of each class.
Q: Is there anyway to make the seat more comfortable?
A: As a beginner, the seat and the bike in general require a little getting used to. Padded bike shorts are a huge help, and some like a cushioned gel seat (we have several in the studio). After a few classes, seat discomfort simply goes away.
Q: How many calories are burned per class?
A: This all depends on the individual and the amount of exertion used. Indoor cyclists can burn from 400-800 calories in a 50 to 55 minute workout such as our classes.
Q: What are the fitness benefits?
A: Per the U.S. Department of Health “…..regular physical activity substantially reduces the risk of coronary disease, stroke, colon cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure…..and helps to control weight, contributes to healthy bones, muscles and joints….reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression...” Need we go on? Cycling is also “low-impact” without the joint stress that you get from “ground-pounding” sports and activities.
Q: Bikes and shoes?
A: We have Schwinn IC Pro indoor bikes that are in excellent condition. Sneakers are fine but “clip-in” cycling shoes offer a more stable position in the pedals. All our bikes accept SPD cleats and some also accept LOOK. |
